The Disruption of Higher Education

I alluded in a previous piece to strange disjunctions in the American educational system. The U.S.A has the finest elite institutions of higher learning in the world; but public elementary and high school America is a dog’s breakfast of okay to awful with income inequality and race playing a huge role in differences in outcome. Fifty percent of Americans read at a grade 8 level or lower. There are also divides within higher education itself and this fine video speaks to this aspect of things educational. A reckoning that is coming, accelerated by COVID, that will be the greatest crisis American post-secondary institutions have ever faced.
